I ran Bauer Fine Gardening Service for 10 years as a small but successful "upper-level" residential maintenance company in Pasadena, CA. I served many of the same clients for over 5 years. Working on the gardening end of things gave me a good perspective on how gardens can change over time, and I think I am able to design gardens with these natural changes in mind.
I am happy to be based now in beautiful Ventura, and I am eager to share the beauty of our native plants with new clients.
I have taught classes on native plant garden design and maintenance at the Theodore Payne Foundation for Native Plants and Wildflowers.
I am on the Ocean Friendly Gardens Committee of the Ventura County Surfrider Foundation. We help people change their landscapes to reduce irrigation use and wastewater runoff.
I am a member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers.
I am on the Board of Directors of the Southern California Horticultural Society.

I have done a couple of interviews with Maryann Ridini Spencer for the Sustainable Ventura TV show. Sustainable Ventura is a very informative resource for everyone concerned about our local cities and environment. Many thanks to the City of Ventura's division of Environmental Sustainability for their wonderful show!
